Background:

PragerU was founded in 2009 by conservative radio talk show host Dennis Prager and radio producer/screenwriter Allen Estrin, in order to advocate for conservative views and to offset what Prager sees as the undermining of college education by the left. Marissa Streit joined in 2009 and was made the CEO in 2011.

PragerU is based in California. Much of the PragerU material is designed to appeal to high school and college students.  PragerU has fought censorship on social media platforms, particularly YouTube and Facebook which have restricted access to many of their videos. That fight continues to this day.

PragerU is completely free of charge and free of advertising. The organization depends on donations to produce its content. PragerU releases videos on various topics from a conservative viewpoint that advance conservative and Judeo-Christian values. Its YouTube channel includes well over 2000 videos featuring notable academics, commentators, media personalities, and politicians.

Much of PragerU's popularity comes from its "5-Minute Videos", which summarize economic, political, and cultural topics, some of which are controversial. According to its 2022 annual report, PragerU videos have received over 7 billion lifetime views. PragerU has ranked highly in influence compared to other free-market advocacy organizations.

Dennis Prager is a long-time radio talk show host and is highly regarded as a conservative thinker. He is also an author, public speaker, and frequent guest on television. 

After the 2024 election, Dennis wrote "Americans have spoken. We want secure borders and safe streets; we don’t want unchecked illegal immigration. We want more energy; we’re not panicked about global warming. We want a thriving economy; we don’t want government-induced inflation. We want a merit-based society; we don’t want DEI. We want a strong military; we don’t want to get involved in endless wars.
In short, we aren’t willing to give up on the country we love. On November 5, we won a big battle… and we should take a moment to enjoy our victory. But only a moment. The war for the future of America rages on. There will be no soul-searching by the left, no self-reflection, no compromise, no apologies. Instead, they will redouble their efforts to destroy the country we love."
